Grade 3 Ballet and Contemporary (ages 9 ½ - 12)

Each hour long ballet class will end in 30 minutes of contemporary.

A form of dance that includes both ballet and modern styles of dance as one.

This movement enhances creativity and really brings out the storytelling and emotional aspects of dance.

Contemporary is a student favorite and creates a community of shared love for dance and storytelling.

Students will learn:

Artistry - Learning how to move in ways that are unique to themselves. Taking choreography and making it their own. There are no great dancers without artistry. Artistry takes over on the stage and demands to be seen.

Confidence - With exercises like improv (free style) they learn to own their own space. Allowing both music and emotion to lead them through the movement. As they dance they are seen by fellow classmates and learn to dance in front of people and not fear the thoughts and approval of others.

Creativity - The way a contemporary class is structured, students will have creative freedom to move how they want in the building blocks given by the teacher. Even being given the freedom to create their own pieces.
