The Fig Club carries the spirit and professionalism of an international arts school into our local community in Kurdistan. The purple house has become a hub for an array of different talents and hobbies with a team of 16 professional, passionate instructors from the United Kingdom, Kurdistan, Lebanon, Canada, America, and Syria who bring their expertise to local adults and children. As a result, for the first time in the region, young artists and children can flourish, and speak their language of art in a comfortable, expressive atmosphere growing into secure, confident, talented young artists.
The Fig Club has a friendly and inclusive environment for all forms of dance and fitness of the highest quality.
The philosophy behind the creation of The Fig Club is to offer the people of Erbil a place to escape and enjoy music, movement and relaxation. Our aim is to make dance, art and fitness accessible to everyone because through this expression of movement comes life!
But why a fig?
Founder Sophia chose the logo of fig as it is one of Kurdistan’s national fruits and has a huge cultural and religious significance at the same time as being a very sweet and healthy fruit. The play on words is fun also: fig for figure, fig for fun and fig for fit!
